How to prevent hearing loss?

With SoundMeter+, if user sees a display item flashing and warning message on screen, he should leave the environment right away, wear hearing protection devices, or minimize his stay time.

For example, if the message says "Risk of hearing damage! Less than 1 hour/day!", user should NOT stay more than one hour.

If without SoundMeter+ at hand, rule of thumb is to avoid noises that are “too loud” and “too close” or that last “too long”. What user can do daily is:

Have hearing protection. Always wear earplugs, earmuffs or other protection devices when sound level is above 85 dB.

● Lower volume. Keep MP3 players to no more than half volume. Ask others to turn down speakers.

Do not listen to loud sound for too long.

● Purchase quieter products. Look for noise ratings on appliances, sporting equipment, kitchen tools, and hair dryers.
