What hearing protection devices are available?

Cotton in ears will NOT protect hearing.

User can use SoundMeter+ to check safety of his personal environment.

For example, if a message is flashing on screen says "Risk of hearing damage!", user should leave now, wear hearing protection, or minimize stay time.

Meanwhile, user should check long-term safety of his personal environment by Noise Dosimeter.

Other hearing protection devices include:

Earplugs are placed into ears to block noise. Reduce noise by 15 to 30 decibels (dB).

Earmuffs fit completely over both ears. Reduce noise 15 to 30 dB.

● Earplugs and earmuffs can be used together for greater noise reduction.

Before purchase, please check earplugs/earmuffs are safe enough for you.

For example, if SoundMeter+ shows noise is 105dB, but earmuffs only reduces 15dB, then the remaining noise is still 105-15 = 90 dB. It is still NOT safe.

In this case, user should purchase earmuffs or earplugs with 30dB noise reduction.

For extremely loud noise, please use earplugs and earmuffs together.

Both can be purchased at drugstores, hardware stores, or sports stores. For best noise reduction, please correctly insert them.
