What is Noise Dosimeter?

Noise Dosimeter can be used to measure noise pollution in personal areas, workplaces, and recreational places. It is also known as personal sound exposure meter (PSEM) and follows International Standard IEC 61252.

Noise Dosimeter typically measures four parameters:

Dose - Dose is expressed as percentage. If environment is more noisy, Dose percentage is higher. Threshold of safety is 100%.

Time Weighted Average (TWA) - TWA is average sound level in decibel (dB). If environment is more noisy, TWA is higher.

Projected Dose (pDose) - pDose is 8-hour projected dose based on actual Dose measurement over actual run time.

Projected Time Weighted Average (pTWA) - pTWA is 8-hour projected sound level based on actual TWA over actual run time.

Based on Noise Dosimeter, selection of hearing protection can be determined.

In order to monitor noise safety, user needs to see Health Text Message at the bottom of SoundMeter+. Also, if a display item is flashing, it means current environment is dangerous for hearing.
